This is the story of Mary Maloney, a six months pregnant woman. Every night, she waited her husband, a policeman , to come back from work. But one evening, when her husband arrived, he announced her that he left her. Astonished by this decision, Mary tried to convince him without success. After a few minutes, she just said “OK” and went to the kitchen, took a lamb in the cooler to cook.

But when she returned in the living room, and saw him next to the window, she spontaneously hit him with the lamb she was still holding. He collapsed on the floor, completely dead.

When she realized what she’d done, she was suddenly frightened for her child. She decided to make up and act normally. To do so, she went to a small shop she loved in the street corner. And talk to the shopkeeper lightly and with sedate manners.

Then she returned home and called the police with a terrified voice. The policemen arrived soon and questioned her about all this story. She said that when he arrived home,she went to the shop and bough things to cook the dinner while a lamb was in the oven and when she saw him dead, she directly called the police.

She really seemed confused and disoriented. Mr Maloney’s colleague (he was a policeman remember…) started to search clues in the house.

A few hours after, they still had not found anything: no weapon, no trail… They talked to the shopkeeper to check what she said. He described her as happy, lightly and merry

Mary was in the couch, crying. Soon, as nothing had been found, the policemen declared that a thief had come, tried to steal things in the house but Mr Maloney tried to defend so the thief hit him and ran away.

Still sobbing, Mary proposed to the last policemen present if they wanted to eat the lamb because now she was alone and she could never eat it. Although embarrassed the policemen finally accepted.

While they were eating the lamb, one of them declared “That’s strange, I’m sure we have the weapon just under our eyes… but where…?” .

Where and when were the first traffic lights put ?

It is in the center of London, exactly at the crossing of Bridge Street and Palace Yard street, that the first traffic lights were put.

Who did invented the Corn-flakes ?

At the end of the 19th century, in the U.S.A, the breakfast was fat, with fried eggs, butter and bacon. At this time, Will Keith Kellogg and his brother doctor John Harvey Kellogg were working in a sanatorium. Thinking food was important for the health, they realized different experiences with cereals in order to give their patients healthier breakfast. With one of them, they cooked wheat then pressed it betwen two rolls to make thin pastry. One day, in 1894, the two brothers forgot a piece of pastry in the kitchen and when they came back, it was dry and hard. When they wanted to roll it, the pastry parted to lots of little flakes. The brothers toasted them to make them more crunchy.

The patients were so much  fond of them that when the brothers came back home, they called to be delivered and be abble to eat the flakes again. Then, Will Keith Kellogg created a factory to make these flakes: the future Kellogg Compagny. In 1898, he did the same with corn, the first corn-flakes were born !
